About us
Learn about Green Tara Foundation’s journey:
Established in 2010, Green Tara Foundation has been actively working in four slums in Pune, serving a population of around 100,000. The organization's primary focus is on uplifting marginalized families, particularly protecting girls and women from these communities, who often remain trapped in caste-based occupations despite migrating to urban areas.
Over the past sixteen years, the Green Tara Foundation has empowered over a lakh beneficiaries, girls and women, to lead dignified lives, successfully enrolling 780 children from marginalized and Scheduled Caste backgrounds in formal schools. The organization is actively involved in child rights, women’s rights, and youth networks. Our past and present activities are carried out by aid received from Government and organisations such as Karuna UK, Karuna Germany, TDH, We trust, etc.

Founder’s Message
When we established Green Tara Foundation in 2010, our goal was simple yet urgent: to break the heavy cycle of marginalization trapping families in Pune's urban slums. We saw a critical need for structural, grassroots intervention to shield women and adolescent girls from violence, prevent early marriage, and pull children out of exploitative labor.
Over the past sixteen years, thanks to our trusted community networks and strong international project partnerships with organizations like Terre des Hommes, we have extended our support to over 100,000 individuals. By successfully enrolling 780+ children into formal schools and helping 1,315+ women reclaim their independence, we have watched passive survivors transform into confident community leaders.
Our focus remains firmly on the future. Through flagship initiatives like the SABALA Project, we are bridging the massive gap between school education and modern industrial requirements. By equipping youth with critical digital literacy and job readiness training, we aren't just opening doors to corporate employment—we are generating stable, long-term livelihoods that uplift entire generations.
